Two Triple Crown Swimmers Ready to Take On Ka'iwi

Scott Richards

One of my concerns for this swim was that we would get too many well meaning adventurers who lacked real open water swimming experience. I am very excited to say that concern is unfounded. We're getting world class, experienced open water swimmers signing up for this race.

I am not so much an expert that I know them by name but after a few minutes on OpenWaterPedia, I've had a few wow moments.

This team of Scotts have the experience and the speed to win the Ka'iwi Channel Swim. Think you can beat them? Registration link is on your right.

T. Scott Coleman is an Insulin Dependent Diabetic who is a member of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. He has swum four of the seven channels in the Oceans Seven: the Strait of Gibraltar, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel and the Cook Strait. He is a member of the Half Century Club for his swim across the Cook Strait at the age of 53 from North Island to South Island in 2007 in 10 hours 27 minutes

Scott "The Yesdoc" Richards, M.D. is a member of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and a lifetime member of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation. Dr. Richards resides in San Elijo Hills, California and is the father of two.
On 9 July 2007, Dr. Richards became the 18th person in history to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming when he swam the English Channel in 13 hours 20 minutes. Prior to the English Channel, he completed the 28.5 mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim on 24 June 2006 and on 20 September 2006 swam the Catalina Channel in just over 10 hours.
At the time, he established the record for the shortest period of time to swim the Triple Crown, completing all 3 swims in just 12 months and 17 days. He has since gone on to add the Tampa Bay Marathon Swim (24 miles) on 23 April 2011 in 10 hours and 35 minutes.
Along with his brother, Dan Richards (whom Scott coached and mentored), they are the only siblings in history of have completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
